My most important responsibility is actually hosting the server. We used to use a free minecraft hosting service (aternos) but I migrated the server to my personal home lab for better performance and lower latency.

For all fellow curious nerds, my server is just old parts from my PC before i upgraded. It has an intel 4770k, 16 gigabytes of ddr3 ram, 5 terobytes storage, the rest of the specs are nothing special.

For the operating system I use Ubuntu because it Linux is best for server environments and Ubuntu is ideal for this scenario because of the other services i self host.
